Clean lines, clear vision – Volvo Trucks’ new headquarters are ready for the future

Volvo Trucks' new headquarters in Ecser sets a benchmark for sustainable and people-centred workplaces in Eastern Europe. With its climate-neutral operations, the 5,500 m² facility reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, people, and environmental responsibility. Volvo Trucks partnered with Kinnarps to realise the vision of a flexible workplace that prioritises wellbeing and efficiency, as well as a strong sense of brand identity.

Letting sustainability lead the way

The new headquarters is more than just an office; it is a multifunctional hub that includes a truck and bus service centre, a training and examination facility, and a dedicated customer area. Sustainability is integrated into every aspect of the building – from a solar park and heat recovery ventilation, to the use of green energy and water from their own well.

The entrance of the office building has a professional yet welcoming expression. Armchairs and a sofa from the Jeffersson series enhances the Scandinavian twist, greeting employees and visitors with a homey atmosphere.

Fusing form and function

Inside the office building, the interior design solution is carefully designed to support the workplace's dynamic needs, all while embodying the Scandinavian elegance that is the essence of the Volvo Trucks brand. Something that looks deceptively straightforward, but Tamás Somogyi, Service Market and Retail Director Volvo Hungária, explains that it was one of the projects’ biggest challenges.

"Balancing ergonomic design, energy efficiency, and a welcoming yet modern aesthetic in a project of this scale is a significant challenge. By combining Kinnarps’ and Volvo Truck’s expertise in crafting sustainable spaces, we could create a workplace that truly reflects these values", he says.

Thoughtfully planned spaces provide employees with a variety of environments to focus, collaborate, and recharge. A balance of spaces including workstations, lounges and different meeting spaces ensure employees can perform their task in the best possible way.

Holistic ergonomics

Throughout the workplace, Volvo Truck’s commitment to a healthy workforce is reflected in the interior design. The spaces are designed with a comprehensive approach to ergonomics and great attention to detail. Everything from seating ergonomics to acoustics and colours is designed to improve the wellbeing and productivity of employees.

By the workstations, Oberon height-adjustable desks are paired with Kinnarps classic 6000/8000 chairs and the sound-absorbing screen Vibe. Together they create an ergonomic space that encourage varied working positions – perfect for focused individual work.

The meeting chair Monroe keeps energy up during meetings by providing comfortable seating that inspires movement. The V-shaped Multicom table makes sure everyone sees each other, as well as the screen.

One of the more challenging parts of taking on a holistic approach to ergonomics was creating a good sound environment. Naturally, with a lot of people gathered at the same place at the same time, the noise levels are going to be heightened. Therefore, a lot of effort was put into improving the sound environment while also maintaining the Scandinavian look and feel connected to the brand. Sound absorbers, carpet, curtains and room dividers were used for this purpose.

In the lounge area, the Fields sofas have multiple purposes. The high back serves as a room divider, creating an informal meeting space within another room. It also contributes to a good sound environment by absorbing and diffusing sound.

The acoustic panel Oktav both serves as a sound-absorber and wall decoration. A playful and functional interior design element made from recycled fabrics and PET plastic. Here together with the Fields (left) and the Deli Lounge armchair (right).

A sustainable investment

The carefully curated interior design solution for Volvo Trucks' new Ecser headquarters represent a forward-looking approach where Scandinavian aesthetics, environmental awareness, and human values converge at the highest level. Tamás Somogyi is happy with the fact that the vision of a flexible workplace where wellbeing, efficiency and brand identity harmonise has become reality.

“The furniture and interior solutions provided by Kinnarps are not only modern and comfortable but perfectly aligned with Volvo Trucks’ values and our team’s needs. Feedback from our colleagues has been very positive, confirming our belief that this investment enhances the experience for both employees and customers”, he says.
